The objective of the study is to conduct a feasibility analysis for the potential establishment of a USD 100 million of investment fund that support inclusive business ventures in Bangladesh. The study will identify companies that are already engaged with or have the potential to work with the low income sector of society as a means to do better in their businesses.

Feasibility Study: Investment Fund for Businesses
The preliminary set of criteria for the investment fund developed by ADB would include the following characteristics:

  • Fund Size: $80 to 100 million USD
  • Size of Deals: $0.5m and $10 million USD
  • Investment Strategy: Focus on investments with high social returns and net financial returns of at least 10-12%.

The BetterStories team plans to meet 100 companies with an objective to identify and map companies with the potential to develop or currently implementing inclusive businesses in Bangladesh. The envisaged timeframe for the study is from January to March 2012.
